Dear You,
Hello, I am back in 2012 and it feels weird being here. After all those years being in the past, when I am finally rescued, it all feels like a dream.
Anyways, the War of 1812 ended with the Treaty of Ghent. It took five months to negotiate.Plus, the War had to end soon! I mean most of the that the Americans had to declare war on them are gone. The boundaries are back as they were and the forty-ninth parallel of latitude will be the border. Britain dropped its goal of First Nations territory and they (USA and Canada) would never use First Nations as allies in war again.
Of course, the British had punished the traitors in the Alien Act. It is quite cruel but they kind of deserved it. Of course people also got recognition for bravery and Laura Secord got a pension (yay! I always liked her chocolate!)
Now that I have nothing to blog about anymore, this will be my last post. I wanted to say goodbye and that I hoped you enjoyed reading this. It was the only thing from me going insane in the past.
Love

ATTACK!!!
It has been a few months since I had updated but I am back!
Some full-scale battles took place during my absence and I feel I must tell you all about it! So now I will write an editorial that I would of written in one of my newspapers. Behold :
Editorial - Why the British will win the War
1812, the Americans call war onto Canada. The war has been intense and battles were fought hard. Even so, the British will obviously win the War. Why? Look at all of them most recent battles.
The Battle of Queenston Heights had been a very important victory for Britain. The Americans had started to invade Fort George on October 13. Major General Isaac Brock had been shot in the chest and his troops had to wait for reinforcements. Soon Major General Roger Sheaffe led the troops and militia. The Haudenosaunee had come to re rescue led by Ahyouwaighs aka John Brant. Together, the Americans withdrawn. Canada did not lose much and 958 Americans were captured and taken prisoner.
That is not Canada's only victory. On October the 25th, the Americans planned to invade Montreal. They wanted to cut off the supply line between Montreal and Kingston. The Americans had communicated and led themselves so badly, they shot and killed their own. They also overestimated the British force. Really, the American force outnumbered the British by eight times. Believing that they were outnumbered, they retreated.
This War will end very soon because at this rate, we will win this War very soon.
What? It's true!!! But I do hope for this War to end soon. All this murdering is KILLING me (no pun intended).

Yet Another 'Found' Letter
Dear You,
I was walking by
one day thinking about how to explain all the things that have been happening
recently. I then met this strange man named John. I stop to talk and knowing my
reporter instincts, I end up interviewing him. He probably thought I was insane.
Anyways, I spotted an unopened letter and my curious side had got the best of
me.
I then ran off
with the letter (I meant to borrow it and return it after ... maybe). While
running I dropped the interview but I remember a bit of it. I'll post in the
next post. Anyways, I know many of you guys reading are very curious and are
wondering what is in the letter. So, being the awesome person I am, I will post
this letter on my blog for you all to see (plus I do not have to re-explain all
of the current events!). BEHOLD! THE LETTER YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
Dear Richard,
How is it in Scotland? I miss you ever since i immigrated to Upper
Canada. Anyways, I wish I could but I can’t return right now. Some very
important things for Canada are happening right now and I feel I cannot abandon
this place.
It's war with the Americans right now. I am a chaplain for the
troops here too. You know how York was invaded? Well, the American soldiers
started looting and burning the whole place up just
because the British had retreated. I alone have to step forward to
meet the American General Dearborn about this important issue at hand. As
an Anglican priest, I cannot watch this place be destroyed by those ruthless
Americans. I am going to speak to the General tomorrow. Wish me luck. I am
going to try to talk Mr. Dearborn to surrender York. It would be much better
for the citizens.
Hopefully, this war will end soon. I had this great idea, Richard!
After the war, can u help me with the Loyal and Patriotic Society? I want it to
help raise funds to help disabled militia and their families. Please come.
Know that I miss you dearly. I wish you happiness in Scotland.
Yours Truly,
John Strachan
Interview
That's right people! I will grace your eyes with a glamorous piece
of writing typed by these miracle making fingers! This interview will be with
one of the most famous people in the past ... AND the future. Be pleased with
yourselves for this is an once-in-a-lifetime offer!
Interviews are hard to get here because often people think you are
insane for asking about what's their opinion on the war and asking what happened
when this is plastered all over the news (newspapers of course). Of course I
MUST be the first person to report this on a blog. These are really long but
worth it. After all, these people are affecting the war and making a
difference!
Anyways, tangent aside, magnificent I will unveil my newest masterpiece!
Interview with LAURA SECORD (for the record, it's not that chocolate person ...)
Right now, you currently are all over the news for your unbelievable
courage. Of course, some of our viewers may not have heard of your incredible
story. I would like to ask you to tell us your long journey that made you
a Canadian hero.
Our family was forced to house American soldiers and it was
completely wrong. I was.... no I am a Loyalist. I was born in Massachusetts but
we moved to Upper Canada. It was a huge slap in the face for me and my husband
to be forced to house them. We could not say no, they were soldiers with the
big guns and everything! One night, I had overheard some of the men discussing
plans. They wanted to attack the British at the Beaver Dams. If
the Americans seized control of the Beaver dams, they would gain
control of the key region in the war, the Niagara Peninsula. I then
started my journey. I walked through 32 kilometres through heavy forest
until I had met some Haudenosaunee p...
You met the Haudenosaunee!?!?!?
Yes I was getting to that *cough* before you interrupted me
*cough* *cough*... Anyways, they had frightened me because I feared I might
have run into the Americans. They then took me to General Fitzgibbon,
the leader of the British forces there. He was pretty surprised when I had told
him the news. They then fought of the attack and captured all of but six. They
had thanked me greatly and the news has spread greatly.
What motivated you to go so much that you were undeterred by
the long journey and hardships?
I still do not fully understand why I had made such a risky move. I
think it was because I had wanted to protect the country that was so dear to
me. As I mentioned before, my husband and I are Loyalists and we had even left
the United States to be here. I would not give up on Canada so easily
especially if I knew important information that can change the whole outcome of
the war.
Thank you for the interview, Laura. On behalf of our readers and I, we
would like to congratulate you on your great journey.
Thank you. It was a pleasure speaking with you today.
TA-DA!!! Stay tuned for more exclusive interviews, news, and gossip on
the war before anybody else!!

Letters ... AGAIN!?!?!?
Haha! This is my 1982379182465765th letter I found ever since I
arrived! These letters were written by an American soldier. I feel it is
important you get both perspectives of the story. Voila! Here is my
brilliant magnificent piece of work that I did not write!
Dear Elizabeth,
We had invaded
Canada successfully. We have finally arrived and we are currently stationed in
Sandwich. I feel this war is unnecessary. I do agree that the War Hawks
was a big influence for this war though. They raised the tension so high and
influenced even the President who decided to declare war on Canada!
The locals seem
afraid of us and I am strangely relieved. I was afraid that we would have to
use force on them. Only you know how much guilt I harbor from being a soldier
but I must forget this silly weakness of mine. I will fight for our
country either way. Hopefully, if we fight well enough, Canada will surrender
soon and there will be no more need for conflict.
Oh, Elizabeth,
I must go. I promise I will write again. General Hull had distributed
a proclamation around and it is making quite a fuss among the
residents. I must go and check what has happened.
Love,
Peter
Dear Elizabeth,
I
had received the news. General William had distributed a proclamation
flyer around to all of the locals telling them why they should not oppose the
invasion. Even as an American soldier, I keep on thinking how I would never
follow these rules. I would fight for my country but then again I am not the
one being threatened (in a way). He states how horrors and calamities of war
will stalk before you in it.
He also
mentions First Nations a quite a bit also. He seems to hold a grudge against
them for not selling land to us. I don't seem to understand why our country
would be angry at some First Nations for not selling us land but then again it
is just me. Anyways, he states fighting by the side of any First Nations person
will be taken prisoner. I also find that odd also that they need to fight with
the First Nations to be arrested. Before, I thought that we take everybody and
arrest them. I suspect he does not want to attack them but only intimidate them
because the less enemies the better. Anyways, Elizabeth, do not worry. I will
be fine and I will return soon from Canada. I will see you soon!
Love,
Peter

My Thoughts
Dear You,
&@#$! Another war! Gosh, do people ever stop fighting here!? I
am not sure how many wars/battling/forms of violence I have witnessed here. I lost count long ago. *Sigh*. I guess I have
to go into reporter mode and explain the current events in an article.
This is Catherine Le reporting on the newest scoop on the War of
1812! Today, July 12, 1812, it has been confirmed that the Americans invaded
Canada. They have stationed themselves in Sandwich today. They were
led by William Hull, commander of the Northwestern Army of
the United State along with 2000 men. There he has distributed a proclamation
for the residents for them not to oppose his invasion. Such things like,"...you
will be considered and treated as enemies and the horrors
and calamities of war will stalk before you ..." were included
in the Proclamation.
I have been moving
around place to place these days and I am very afraid about these events. Those
Americans seem ruthless and are sure taking this war seriously. What scares me even more than that is the fact that I don't think the invasions will stop.
Oh, I forgot to
mention!! I found a letter on the ground ... AGAIN!!! I might be what you might
call a letter magnet. Haha ... letter magnet! I'm funny. For a little treat, I
will reveal the short but sad letter. It was written by a child to their family
in Lower Canada.
Dear Auntie,
You must have
heard all of the news but Mama felt it was important for us to tell you
ourselves. The Americans has invaded Sandwich yesterday. Their leader also sent
out a strange letter to everybody living here. Mama and
Papa seem very troubled about it but they won't say anything about it. They
told us to not fight them and if we were to we would be considered 'enemies' and they have even brought 2000 men.
Papa doesn't want to follow these rules. He is still a loyalist at heart and wants to
support Britain/Canada in any way possible. He still fears the Americans especially after the American Revolution. He thinks that even if
they say they will not harm us, they are not to be trusted. We are leaving Sandwich in a
few days' time. We would like to stay with you for some time. Thank you a lot
Auntie!

And Some More War ...
And the War of 1812 erupts in North America ....
Yes, I actually remember learning about it (a real surprise there!)!
Even though the Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution, Britain and the United States hate each other. A LOT. Anyways, their relationship is full of tension, anger, and hate. The most significant events that have helped increase the tensions were the : impressment, blockade, First Nations Allies and the War Hawks. I, myself will explain the stories of all those events and will be blogging during the War of 1812, giving you all the latest scoop and the juiciest news before anybody else!
IMPRESSMENT
1793, Britain's main priority was to win the war (yet ANOTHER war ...) against France and were worried that the French troops would sail across the English Channel so that they decided to strengthen their navy to protect their land by sea. The British ships were ... not in the best condition so a LOT of sailors ditched and went to the American merchant navy. Britain ... not very happy. They started stopping American ships to see if there were any people there that had originally ditched Britain. I find it REALLY FUNNY that they are that desperate. Then sometimes they were forcing Americans sailors into service. Of course by then the Americans were raging (no surprise there!)!
BLOCKADE
The British decided that they used its navy to blockade Europe. It (purposely) stopped many countries from trading with France and was designed to hurt the French only. The Americans were not happy because THEIR economy was faltering due to loss of market (for importing goods).
FIRST NATIONS
The Americans do not like Britain or the First Nations. What happened was after the American Revolution, the First Nations were encouraged to keep their large territory for themselves and it stopped the American ground from growing. They also believe that he British encouraging them to be hostile to them and that they support efforts to protect First Nations' land.
WAR HAWKS
Now this one is the most influential of them all. The war hawks were a group of politicians (American) that believed they should expand their borders and that Canada was just in the way. They also believed that they should simply take over this land. President James Madison was very influenced by them that on June 19,, he declared war on Britain.
That was my news report on the war. Stay tuned for the next post filled with all of the news you can find only here.

Trees and Food
Dear You,
In the last blog post I have forgotten to mention a few things.
Now agriculture (food) and timber (wood) are the most important industries here
in British North America. In my last post it looked as if I implied that the
fur trade was the biggest industry (which it was in 1770's) but now these two
industries are the two largest exports from Canada! It is quite shocking
considering now that only 9% of exports are fur after it used to being the most
exported item to Britain ... It's actually pretty funny how much things can
change after time!

The timber industry was thriving. Right now wood is being used for....
everything! They use it for eating utensils, shoes, jewellery, buildings!
The part that made the timber industry do so well was the war in Europe.
England wanted wood. A lot of it. Because of the war they can’t get any wood so
they go to British North America to get it. I personally like it because it
helps the economy here and a lot of people are cashing in on this booming
industry! The only bad part is that you cannot have that supporting you alone
because you cannot work during the winter time. That's why many farmers work
part time in the timber industry.
PS If you guys had not realized I have been back in time for a
long time (no one bothered saving me yet) and haven't aged. No, I am not a
vampire (I don't sparkle in the light either ....) I realized that maybe
since I'm back in time that I do not age until I get into 'my time'. Boy, time
travel is very scary. Oh yeah, SAVE MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Love

Article Attempt #3
Voila! My magnificent, amazing, breath-taking, superb, gratifying third take at a well written article is completed and will be shared with you. Your eyes will be allowed to feast on my marvelous piece of writing once again! Be pleased. Behold, Article Attempt Number Three!
North West Company and HBC Become One
The long lasting rivalry between the two companies come to an end when the join together under the name of Hudson’s Bay Company.
Since 1670, fur trade has expanded immensely. They still follow the two systems of trading created and set up by the British and the French. First Nations arrived at HBC posts with furs to trade. The French on the other hand, used Montreal as their base to travel west in search of furs to trade.
These systems were used even after 1760 when Britain took over New France. The trade was run by small partnerships of the English and Scottish people. They and the HBC competed with each other to find the best furs to find the best furs.
In 1776, a group of traders from Montreal decided they would do better if they worked together and became the North West Company. By 1783, the North West Company was dominant. The reason for the success was that the company had access to the rich furs near Lake Athabasca.
The price to transport furs for the HBC was lower but the North West Company always had the better furs. The HBC was forced to leave Hudson Bay to make their own trading posts in the West due to their extremely successful opponents.
The second reason for their great success was that most people working for the North West Company were the Métis. The Métis were the children of French coureurs de bois and their mothers with First Nations and had connections with the First Nations got them the best fur.
The competition was intense and both companies would not stop. Finally in 1821 the finally join together under HBC's name. The long lasting rivalry finally ends.
He he he ... I tried.
York!!!
Dear You,
Greetings from York!!! I somehow ended up here after going to the United States on vacation. This all happened because of a man named John Graves Simcoe. Mr. Simcoe led a Loyalist unit (the Queen's Rangers) during the American Revolution. He visited Newark (the capital of the colony). He believed it was unsuitable as a capital due to fear of conflict with the Americans. He then wanted to turn York into a military stronghold and in 1793, they moved there with his wife, servants and members of the Loyalist unit. He then had to convince the other government officials to move to York and to make York the colony's capital. This is where I come in.
He needed settlers but there was yet ANOTHER war in Europe so this prevented Europeans from going to York. Simcoe then recognized that the United States were a potential source of new settlers even though he distrusted them. He bribed the Americans into coming to Upper Canada with land. I, going on vacation/getting scoop in America, happened to receive one of those offers. So here I am! In York! I really do miss modern Toronto though. I can’t be too sad because this is Toronto in the future anyways. I must look forward!
Mr. Simcoe (have to show him respect. He gave me land of course!) wanted to make an 'upper class' so they (wealthy people with business government and military connections) get up to 5000 acres of land! I may not be upper class but I got a good chunk of land which is about 1200 acres of land. It really does not matter to me how much land I get though. I am planning on selling all of the land I received anyways. I will sell it to one of my wealthy neighbours and use about a quarter of the profit to buy a horse and ride my way home. The rest of the money will be for me to spend back in Quebec. I am really excited to go but I want to spend a little more time in York before I go back from my vacations.
That’s all of the latest news for now. I’ll update you all soon!
Love,
Catherine

Another Found Diary
Hey! It has been a little while since I last posted ... 14 years? Anyways, I was walking home from work when I saw a diary. Boy, I'm good at finding diaries, journals etc .... I think it can explain the current events better than I can. Without further ado, here is the diary written by a now grown up Sarah (from an earlier post remember?):

Dear Father,
Sorry I had not been writing lately. We miss you a lot here. Mother is doing well and James has grown up now. He is seventeen now. Did I tell you? We had moved to Lower Canada a few years ago. We live better now. I was cleaning the house when I found this log inside an old chest earlier and I thought I should write to you. We really miss you a lot.
There I heard there were errors and problems with a purchase of land by the Crown. It is very funny if you think about it! First, the Lieutenant-Governor John Graves Simcoe wanted to make York a military stronghold because it was much farther from the Americans than Newark. Anyways,York is very important because it was frequently used by First Nations for many generations. There was even a village Seneca there before.
Anyway, in 1787, York was controlled by Mississauga. Sir John Johnson met with the Mississauga and they agreed to sell the land, but they did not know for sure how much land that the Crown purchased! The funny thing is many years later, they found the act ... blank! Ha! How funny! They fixed it in August though. The funny part was Mississauga gave up FAR more land they had agreed in the first place! Ha! I'm still laughing right now! The whole situation is very humorous.
Darn it! Sorry. I have to go clean and make dinner before James and Mother at home! I'll write to you soon Father!

And Even MORE Changes
Dear You,
Apparently I missed a huge part of the Constitutional Act! The Loyalists wanted 'to have a significant voice in their government". I personally don't mind because this is a nice change I guess but it will take me a little while to get used to it. They only thing I must complain about are that why is only the Legislative Assembly (the assembly that gets the least influence as possible) voted? Also, WHY ARE ONLY MALE PROPERTY OWNERS ALLOWED TO VOTE!!! What about the FEMALE property owners! What about the other males who don't own property! Everybody (well at a certain age) should be able to vote for the Assembly that are deciding the taxes that THEY have to pay! Logically, now we (females and non property owning males) do not have a significant voice in the government either way. Only the 'property-owing men" do... I'm raging right now!!!! ARGGGG!!!!
Well, I have not explained the whole situation properly yet. Okk so it is like a chart I guess. First on the list is the Sovereign. He is the king, supreme ruler of all that got his place there by hereditary of course. Then is the Governor who controls the government (Upper and Lower Canada). They appointed by the King . Then comes the Executive Council and the Legislative Council. The Executive Council manages government business. The Legislative Council makes laws. Both councils are appointed. Then comes the Legislative Assembly. the propose laws to the Legislative Council and approves taxes. Only the Legislative Council are elected. And last is the voters. This is why I'm so ticked. Just because we are women we cannot vote! Even if we own property? Why only the men? Whats with the discrimination here!?
Here in Quebec, it is getting more and more confusing. Loyalists, in my opinion, are causing a lot of trouble here. Especially with that rude letter they sent to the king. Darn! Sorry, I have to go! I recently got a job here in Quebec. I have to support myself too. Anyways, there I get all of the latest gossip from the fellow workers. Shoot! I have to go now or else I'll be late for work! I'll write soon.

Even MORE Laws
Darn you, Loyalists.
Ugh, I am so ANGRY! The British Government had just passed a few more laws just hours ago and I am RAGING!!!! Read this little girl's journal to find out why (by the way, I did not steal this but merely picked it off the ground when it 'fell').

Dear Father,
How is it in France? Mother and I have been doing well. Recently, many loyalists had arrived in Quebec. I am always glad to have some more children to play with! I spoke with them and they have told me that their parents do not like our laws as much as we do. At least I made a few friends here I guess!
Mother seems very worried. Some of the Loyalists have written a letter to the King of England. They were not very happy with the ways of life here. The government had replied with new laws and I am not sure if life here will be the same. There now is a Lower and Upper Canada and only the lower Canada can continue the French Seigneurial system. We live in Upper Canada. My mother had always lived with the former ways of farming. She cannot stand this new way. Also, in Mother's words, in Upper Canada, there are a lot of places controlled by certain people (like the Church (but not the one that WE believe in)). Mother has also told me about how there were to be an assembly where they can raise taxes. It is already hard here because Mother not only has to support me but also (my little brother) James.
We really want to go to Lower Canada, Father. Mother says that it will be better for us there. The only thing holding us back is that right now we are not in the right position to move to Lower Canada. James could never make the long journey. We don't know what to do! I will write soon to you Father.

It's so heartbreaking! Anyways, I'll update you all soon!

RAGEEEE!!!!!!
Dear You,
Why is everybody here so upset with everything. I had just received some angering news.I have to keep this letter short otherwise I will probably ruin my phone screen with my anger.*HULK SMASH*. Oops ... OK Now that my anger is out I can fully explain the story.
The allies of Britain during the American Revolution are really ticked. I'll start off explaining the First Nations situation.
Believe it or not, the First Nations (the Haudensosaunee in fact) to support Britain. Before, they had a treaty of neutrality with the Patriots. Then Thayendanegea (born in Cayahoga 1742) convinced them that Britain would honour them more than the rebels would. Then they fought with the British for many battles. Then Britain decided to ignore its allies. In the Treaty of Paris, Britain had given the right to the First Nations land to the United States. HOLY ... ! They had ignored the people that helped them fight. Those cowards. Then the worst part was that Thayendanegea had to go all the way to London just to petition for his people. Gosh! The more I speak of this the more my anger rises! FINALLY, then they get their land.
Britain and their ... unwise (?) choices ...
OK, that was a little while ago though. Now the big thing that has been happening lately! The Loyalists had arrived for a little while now. You know how Britain was finally being respectful and allowing them to keep their civil law and seigneurial land-holding system? Apparently its OFFENSIVE to the loyalists. Offensive!? Oh Please! Those Loyalists! To believe I was excited for their arrival! Anyways, the way it works is that, farmers get tenure and has a right to occupy the land but does not have full ownership. Apparantly that's a GOOD reason to petition to the king of England that said that they ad been used to the Government and Lay of England and I quote " by Your Majesty's kind actions that they will be 'freed' from French Tenures". HOW RUDE!!! *smashes the wall* Honestly!!!! 'FREED' FROM FRENCH TENURES!!! They have absolutely no manners!
Anyways I must go now. The British government is about to announce some new laws and I believe it's important for me to know (1. for me to know 2. for you to find out 3.for future reference) I'll see you next time (not really)!
Love

Article Attempt #2
Dear You,
Hey! It's been a while! Oh, did I mention earlier that I was recently in Nova Scotia (visiting of course)? I met this famous guy there. His story is incredible! Behold, my second attempt at a good article!
Hero, Lieutenant Moody, comes to Nova Scotia

Moody is a man of many adventures. He grew up in New Jersey. He was a farmer who refused to take part in the revolution and pledge loyalty. Later, rebels attacked him at his farm.He then joined the New Jersey Volunteers. They are the largest Loyalist regiment in the war. He freed many British supporters from American prisons. He had even freed himself from jail.
1780, Moody was arrested. Two months later, he broke free of his shackles, stole his guard's musket and ran. When he escaped, the alarm was raised. He then shouldered is musket and joined the police in looking for him. He lived on berries and nuts until he can rejoin his regiment.
Moody will receive half pay as a captain. This higher pay is reward fro his extraordinary bravery. We would like to welcome this exceptional man into our community.
See! I can still write a good article! Well see you next time!

They're Coming!
Dear You,
Hey! Long time no see! Anyways a lot of Loyalists are coming to Quebec. YAY! I know I should not be happy about people being kicked out of their homes but I can't help being excited for our new neighbours. At least they will be welcomed. Anyways, many (and I mean a lot of people) had arrived in the little village in Quebec that I am residing in. It is always nice to have new people (new people= new scoop!) .
I heard of how they were treated before in the Thirteen Colonies! They were ridiculed, tormented and treated like trash! They're still people with different opinions than the Patriots. That doesn't mean they should be treated like scum and then forced to leave their home AND possessions! Gosh, I wish they left for Quebec earlier so that they would not have to endure that kind of punishment.
Hmph, those Thirteen Colonies are so smug that they won the war. Oh yeah, they won a war with a POOR country that's trying to help those cheapskates. Congratulations! I mean, I know that a tea and/or paper tax is kind of a stupid idea but if the profits went to protecting myself and our country, I wouldn't mind! Ugh, they still get angry! Those colonists!
Well, here in Quebec, the Loyalists are being treated very well but there still are many problems. The Black loyalists. Here Loyalists are treated well but the Black ones are not treated as well. Like, honestly! When they (the Loyalists) get supplies to build shelters, the Black Loyalists were almost ALWAYS the last ones to receive supplies. What makes it worse is that there were never enough tools and nails for everybody! I don't think the lack of supplies is really fair for anybody! Especially the people that just gave up everything they had!
Well I'm still upset. Anyways soon I'm going to go to Nova Scotia for like a vacation like thing. I also hear that there's big news there so I MUST see!

Interview with a Loyalist
Hello. It has been a long time since I had written an article. It has been even LONGER time since I had interviewed someone and my reporter instincts are as strong as ever. In this exclusive interview with a Loyalist, we speak of the hardships of simply supporting Britain and the discrimination and fear of your neighbours who believe you are a traitor to your own country. Without further ado, my latest masterpiece (the text in italic):
The American Revolution: Supporting Britain
Supporting Britain have caused many colonists their homes. Not supporting the rebellion was all they had done but they had already been labelled as traitors. They had become Loyalists. They had been humiliated for simply believing Britain had done nothing wrong. Loyalist, William Brown, now living in Quebec, gives us an exclusive interview about the hardships of living in the Thirteen Colonies siding with the British.
C: Good afternoon, William. Thank you for letting me conduct this interview. This means a lot to me. Lets start off this interview with a simple question, Why did you support the British?
WB: I felt that my people were giving the British a hard time. They were simply trying to raise funds to protect us when they had passed the Stamp Act and with the Ohio Valley incident, the First Nations were already living there. We had been selfish. I know we could use the land and I was angry at first but now I have calmed down but my people are still not happy. I could not agree with their opinions about the British.
C: How interesting. In New Jersey, 1775, a man by the name of Thomas was accused as an enemy of the country and was humiliated in the most cruellest ways. How did you feel about that?
WB: If the Colonists believed he was a traitor, they should of kicked him out of the village or country into Quebec or Nova Scotia. That way he could of left with his pride but instead they strip him of everything including his dignity until he apologized. He had apologized for believing that the British had done nothing wrong. That was low of the Thirteen Colonies.
C: You had mentioned earlier that you now live in Quebec. What had caused this move, your neighbours or yourself?
WB: I was forced to go by my Patriot neighbours. I had travelled north by land. I was not as wealthy as some of the other Loyalists but thankfully not as poor as some. I had been a farmer before I left for Quebec. One of the things that I felt that Britain had done right was that they gave freedom to black loyalists who had been slaves before.
C: I have one last question. If you were to go back in time, would you keep your decision to side with the British or become a Patriot?
WB: What a difficult question. I think I would become a Loyalist instead of a Patriot. These countries could live without war and I strongly believe that Britain had done nothing wrong to us. These hardships that I had faced were well worth the fight.
C: Thank you for the interview and taking the time out of your day to meet me here.
WB: It was a pleasure.
Well that was an interesting article. I am completely on the Loyalist's side but I'm trying not to be biased in my articles (ohh did I mention, I still write them! I should post one soon. They're much better than the last one...). Anyways that's the latest news there. Many Loyalists came to Quebec. Yay! More people to meet. That means more interviews! That's all the news so far. I'll update you soon.
